We are happy to share with you the good news that we are pregnant with our second child.

Rebecca had a hunch that she was pregnant the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. She took one pregnancy test that afternoon and it was negative. Surprisingly, she was not discouraged. The back of the box did say morning was the best time. So, on Thanksgiving morning, Rebecca took another pregnancy test…. and it was positive. Needless to say, it was a tremendous day of thanks!

Rebecca went in for her second doctor’s/midwife appointment and all is well. She heard the baby’s heartbeat and was again filled with awe, joy and thanksgiving.

Number Two, as we affectionately call him/her is right at 12 weeks of age. Here are some stats:

Nearly all structures, joints and organs are formed and beginning to function (including even the tongue!)

He/she is wriggling, shifting, and dancing

If an object is given in the hand, he/she will curve his/her fingers around it

The fingerprints are evident in the skin

Hair and nails are growing

Vocal Cords are forming

The muscles in the intestinal walls are beginning to practice contractions that digest food.

Here’s a photo of what the feet look like at this age of development:

A 3D ultrasound of another child at the same age:

Supposedly, Number Two is due to arrive on August 14th. Well, sometime in August would be nice

Therese Mary Grace, a.k.a. Big Sister, has her second birthday coming up in just a couple of days on Feb. 11th (Our Lady of Lourdes).
